ASKEL Cartilage Implant

Rethinking Mobility

The joint surface is composed of cartilage and the underlying bone. Cartilage provides a smooth, cushioning and lubricating surface over the bone, and its health is essential for our ability to move without pain.

Unlike bone, cartilage has a very limited capacity to heal itself. If damage to the joint surface is left untreated, it can progress to further joint degeneration and eventually osteoarthritis, a chronic degenerative disease that affects the entire joint. Therefore, timely and effective treatment of cartilage lesions is essential.

The ASKEL Cartilage Implant is a biodegradable implant intended for the surgical treatment of cartilage and bone-cartilage lesions in the knee joint of adult patients. The implant allows immediate full weight-bearing on the operated leg after surgery, enabling early rehabilitation.

The ASKEL Cartilage Implant is an investigational medical device and is not yet approved for commercial use in any country.
